If I am never to return to a form once embraced, rejected,
explored - I am going to have to live life on purpose,
awaken my potential, neither denying the darkness
nor the light, but rather growing, albeit too slowly,
into something I Am - something authentic to me, alone;
and this is the opportunity all of us have in the great spell
of living this journey here on earth;
Beyond the trite phrase that life is what you make it,
lies a truth so deep and wide, few have courage
to glimpse it, unblinking; the truth that we are creators
or destroyers, and that choice is ever present,
and we are also resonant, magnetic, just as the earth
rotates, adheres to its ecliptic orbit around the sun,
so like the tides, we wash out and pull in, carrying
with us parts of the collective, the colorful life
or the dull debris, what adheres is what we resonate with,
what we shed is ours to set free;
And if, in the shedding, some fragment of a former self
returns as driftwood to the shore, I will lift it, examine its grain,
let the salt dry upon my hands, and decide anew whether
to burn it for warmth, build with it, or return it to the sea;
In this way I become the architect of my continuance,
not merely the echo of my past lives,
but the author of the one unfolding now.

I love everything you write and look forward to reading the next one. ❣️
Well, that’s quite a compliment, thank you so much! 🙏♥️
You are so welcome. I was in your home when you lived in Maine a long time ago. I was a client I enjoyed working with you. 💝
Oh my goodness! I am sorry I didn’t recall your name! There were many who came, and I would of course remember your face. But there was so much going on at that time! Raising teenagers, managing the weather down there …! But it was indeed a magical time for me, and I thank you for being part of that. Be well, dear heart. 🌺💓
I love the driftwood analogy Bela. A beautiful inspiring piece. Thank you 💞
Many thanks, Val! 🙏💕

Your photos always illuminate your words, as your words illuminate your photos. Trite but true–today is the first day of the rest of our lives. (K)
Indeed it is! Thanks always for the sweet feedback, Kerfe! 🙏♥️
