What do I want to
Do with my life?
To explore and explode
a thousand thoughts
and color-filled words
that spill out and scramble
for the page … Confusion!
It’s all I want, and
then the pictures begin
scrolling, rolling on the
insides of my eyelids
and I am dazzled
and amazed and fully
invigorated by those
visions as well;
Then I wonder about focus
and how I could possibly
slice the creative pie
I’ve been eyeing all my
life, drooling until I die
over-stuffed, never
sated.

Creative people can never be sated Bela…each word seems to float as we swim around for new ones, each horizon seems too low and every new creation mocks at our style, demanding depth! Floundering in the sea of ideas and dreams, we hope for a new light with each creation. Keep the creative juices flowing dear friend. 🙂
Love your creative description, Balroop. Thanks for taking time to offer it here! Aloha 🙏😘
No confusion in my mind, Bella. You write so beautifully!
Many thanks, Paul! 😗
Overstuffed. Never sated. Love that close.
🤗 Mahalo, David.
‘drooling until I die
over-stuffed, never
sated.’ That is a wonderfully concise definition of what today’s reality is, Bela!
Yes! Exactly right. Though sadly many to most use this creative drive in service to consumerism and greed. Hungry ghosts 😔
Just how I feel lately. Well done.
Good! Glad you’re on the beam! Love your writing, Heidi. Aloha.
There are times, and I have to admit it’s often after having a pot edible that my mind rushes with creative energy and it becomes a struggle to slow down my thoughts before another one has taken it’s place. That’s what this poem reminded me, the feeling of being overrun with creativity, but not being able to get it out fast enough or perhaps in a medium you have any competence at. For instance I can see sometimes amazing sculptures in my head, but I don’t know if I have the ability or patience to make them. lol Writing is about the best I have when it comes to creative expression. I try to make the best of it. 🙂
You know, I know what you mean – though I’m usually just naturally high enough to delve into those creative waters. And your perception of having so much flowing that you can hardly slow down to express is exactly what I’m talking about here. The funny thing is, I wrote the first draft of this poem almost 20 years ago, and it’s the same today!
Don’t ever sell yourself short on your writing ,Swarn. Aloha.
I’m not selling my writing short, just that I sometimes wish I had more talent for creative expression in other mediums. 🙂
Some things take a virtual lifetime to develop. You’ve got time!
A clever littering of alliteration in the final stanza! I’ve just asked you (over at Esme’s) whether you’re well out of harm’s way there, dear Bela, so will await a reply there, or here, but stay safe — we need you. H <3
Quite all right, thank you. Coincidentally I was at the caldera Halema’uma’u the night before the eruption though! Had business in Hilo, 2-1/2 hrs from home, so made plans for an overnight to avoid the crowds in the park, another 40 min from home, so we are well out of harm’s way, save for earthquakes, to be expected. Will write more in a post with photos. Mahalo for your concern. ❤️
Was watching the news today and thought of you. Hopefully all is well with your house 🙂
All good here. Will write a post about it tomorrow. 🙏🏽
So many ideas and desires. So little time.
Haha, true! 😝
🙂
Wow – did this resonate
So glad it did! 🤗🌏🌺
