There are days when the question arises—
not out of despair, but out of clarity:
what is the point of waking again
to the gold of morning
if I can’t sense purpose in it?

Life is precious, fragile.
Yet still I must ask.

If I didn’t question,
I wouldn’t roll out of bed.
My seeking has always cut close—
never small things,
always the big ones:
Where did we come from?
Why am I here?
What good is a life
that only consumes
until the light winks out?

If the Mystery were solvable,
would consciousness stop evolving?
What use is this mind
if it doesn’t widen the field of inquiry?

I live in wonder
and wonder why more don’t.
Curiosity has been my compass,
education the tool that told me
answers mattered.
But without unsolvable questions,
what would keep the journey alive?
What would keep our species growing?

Maybe because the quest itself is the bridge.
We go on because longing
keeps the universe expanding.
Each deep question
stretches our field of knowing:

Does beauty not answer
in ways language simply cannot?
Isn’t that why it keeps us entranced?
A breaking wave,
a true word,
a simple kindness—
each one reveals something
we can’t grasp directly,
and still, I keep trying.

Perhaps communion is richer
than understanding.
We live on to stay in relationship
with what we cannot name.

Maybe matter needs witnesses.
Stars, sea, the land itself,
animals, people—
they all come alive the moment
we see them clearly.
Does that seeing somehow
complete the circuit?

Perhaps we go on because life
wants to know itself through us.
And as we grow into these limits,
they shift—less as walls,
more as scaffolding, not confinement.
These miraculous bodies are not a prison,
but a framework
that lets our music resound.
