Nothing is ever a mistake, not even
what we toss into the maw of a waiting
donation bin, our acquisitions
and castoffs equally important to us
in their time;
And aren't we a part of nature, bright
flowers blooming their prolific heads off
out there in the garden, then shedding
copious detritus once they're done,
the difference of course being that
their kind of death contributes to life
and does not impinge on the health
of the planet by piling
up in mountains of landfill;
We also gather people to us in this life,
some challenge us, others delight often
in the same breath, unexpected, sometimes
unwanted, and our responding feelings
of joy or sorrow enrich this journey
into awareness, as deep as we are able
to dive in and emerge, again and again;
Mis-take, mis-step imply we have acted
in error somehow, and yet without stepping
on your toes in the proverbial dance, we might
not have met as fully and honestly as we did
and as we continue to do, day by day, year
after year, and now, some thirty years later,
we can laugh about what others thought
the boldest move, the grandest mistake
of our lives.

Mistakes always look different in retrospect. And what an amazing sky. (K)
Indeed they do. Thanks! Kerfe. 😘
Wondrous! 🧡
Thanks, Eliza! 🙏❤️
Another thoughtful poem from you, Bela. I agree, nothing is mistake, and I think nothing is also ever coincidence. We are indeed part of nature and what is beyond that we can see and touch. The world has come along way with technology and development and being caught up in consumerism, and so we get lost along the way as to what really matters.
Indeed we gather people to us in this life. Some come and go, some stay for a while, and some are there for the long haul. It’s a special thing connecting with someone who you relate to these days, and even more special when meeting in person. We’ve got so much to learn from each other.
Hope you are doing well, Bela 😊💕
Mabel, thanks as always for your thoughtful response to my posts. You are a gift in my world, and I appreciate you. We do have so much to learn from one another, and I’m so glad you’re in my ‘learning circle!’ Bless you. 🙏🏽😘
You are so kind and generous, Bela. I am so glad you are in my learning circle too. Always thinking and learning from you when I come by here. Much love 🙏💕
Same -> me with you! Love back! xoxo
Wishing you well this holiday season, Bela 😊💕
Thanks so much , Mabel! I appreciate the sentiments. Happy solstice! 🙏❤️
Yes, happy solstice. It has come around once again – one of my favourite times of the year here with summer and longer days. Hope winter is going well for you, Bela 🙏❤️
Haha, yes! Funny to think that summer for you is winter for me. It just seems strange, even though I know it’s true! 😜 when we went to Australia, we lived in Hawaii, so it really didn’t seem to make much difference. But living here in the high country in New Mexico, all that changes. It was 7° this morning Fahrenheit – cold! But this afternoon it is in the high 50s or low 60s. It is the nature of being that much closer to the sun. Hope you have a good weekend, Mabel! 💋💓
It is very strange that it’s summer here and winter over there for you. So the solstices are generally different experiences for those in the northern and southern hemispheres. That said, it has been a cold summer here so far and we are back to winter temperatures this week lol. Enjoy the week ahead, Bela 💕
Thanks, Mabel! It was -12F degrees this morning! I woke up thinking, what am I doing here??!?! 😜😝🙄😍💓
That is very cold, Bela! It sounds like a very cold snap. Not my kind of weather. Stay warm and take care 💕
Haha, no doubt! You were raised in warmer climes. We are from the East Coast of the US, where this kind of weather is not unusual. We did have 17 years in Hawaii total, and if we had wanted to stay there, we certainly would have. We missed the largesse of the mainland, especially the West. Room to move. The forests and rivers. All that said, I will pine for an ocean until I meet one again. We have never lived too far away from an ocean. 💓💓💓
It sounds like being near the ocean treats you well. Maybe at some point you will find yourself near the ocean again. Stranger things have happened. Yes, I’ve lived in predominantly warmer temperatures compared to your part of the world…it amazes me how cold it can get in some places 😄 Stay safe and well, Bela 💕
I agree, stranger things have happened, and I’m just now writing a post about … water!! I don’t think I can forever live too far from it. So we shall see what the impending years bring. Blessings, Mabel. 💞
Who knows that the years will bring. Let the planets and light guide you. Happy Solstice 😊💕🙏
Yes! Planets and light, coupled with my own intentions, is how I live my life! Blessings, Mabel! 💗
Best wishes for the year ahead, Bela 💕
And to you, Mabel! 🥳🙏💓
Take care 🥳🙏💓
